MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES

The M.O.R.E. Cafe provides a variety of meaningful opportunities for differently-abled individuals. Here are a few....

AKTION CLUB

The M.O.R.E. Cafe has become the springboard for Portage County's Aktion Club.  Aktion Club is a community service club for differently-abled individuals.  Our Aktion Club meets the 1st Sunday of every month.  Our members plan, lead, and participate in community service projects.
Aktion Club projects have included:
Birthday in a Bag - Bags were packed with everything needed to celebrate a birthday.  The bags were then donated to a local food cupboard.
Community Egg Hunt - Aktion Club members filled and hid Easter eggs for our village kids to find.
12 Days of Christmas - Boxes were decorate and filled with a food item during each of the 12 days leading up to Christmas.  The boxes were donated to our local food cupboard.

FUN FRIDAYS

Fun Fridays are for differently-abled individuals and their families and/or caretakers. Every Friday night over the summer and the last Friday of the month during the school year, we reopen The M.O.R.E. Cafe from 6-8pm for a themed activity night that celebrates our community and the talents of our Donut Team members and friends.
Fun Friday themes have included:
Smoothies & Movies
Cream Sticks & Karaoke
Twists and Trivia
Glazed & Games
Paninis & Paint
Sprinkles & Survivor
Jelly donuts & Jokes

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

Being part of a community is at the heart of our mission.  Through our Aktion Club and Fun Fridays we work hard to connect to our community.  As a result we have made many new friends within our community.

Our community connections have included:
Cheering on our local sports teams
Attending local theater
Selling donuts with local high school cheerleaders at Friday Night football games
Helping at our community Breakfast with Santa
Improvaneer Method

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

We love to celebrate our M.O.R.E. Cafe individuals' special day!  Many of our individuals have never been invited to a birthday party or had a party for their birthday with friends.  Those invitations that come for so many have not for our individuals.  The M.O.R.E. Cafe has set out to change that!
We love to bowl, sing karoke, have a dance party, and of course enjoy a donut cake to celebrate birthdays The M.O.R.E. Cafe way!

Our Soap Workshop - Mantua SoapWorks

The Mantua Soapworks Workshop & M.O.R.E is part of The M.O.R.E. Cafe mission.  At the Soap Workshop differently-abled individuals have the opportunity to learn how to create soap and bath products.  Each soap is unique and orginial from the design to the fragrance.
